READING // Kenny Karpov at Pages Bookshop
“Despite It All We Never Learn” is a collection of short essays and 85 testimonials from refugees that were recorded and written while Karpov was volunteering in the Mediterranean Sea onboard various rescue vessels operated by non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The purpose of the project is to increase awareness of the existence of the people taking to the sea and the abuses they endured through their own words.
An exhibition of Karpov's work will be on view at M Contemporary Art from November 22 - December 14, 2019.

M Contemporary Art was a part of Detroit Art Week from July 16 - July 21, 2019 with a lineup of events including the opening of Brian Day’s “A Moment Away,” a collection visit at the Burris Law offices, and studio tours with Senghor Reid, Scott Vincent Campbell and Robert Mirek.

WDET // DETROIT PHOTOJOURNALIST KENNY KARPOV TELLS STORIES OF WAR AND MIGRATION
Detroit photojournalist Kenny Karpov has been back in the city since January, after spending the past several years documenting war-torn and ravaged parts of the world that most of us only see on the news.
Karpov has lived those experiences, in the Middle East and the Central Mediterranean Sea, and now he’s working to share all that he experienced — and photographed — in a forthcoming exhibition and book titled, “Despite It All We Never Learn.”
