Oshun Williams: Jimmy’s Blueprint Opens Friday

Oshun Williams' new series of paintings "Jimmy's Blueprint," reflects the legacy of Black families who moved North during the Great Migration in search of opportunity, stability, and a better future.  Drawing from personal memory, family history, and the cultural landscape of cities like Detroit, Pontiac, and Flint.

Williams’ work explores the communities shaped through labor, migration and resilience.

In his paintings, factory jobs, neighborhood gatherings, and everyday moments become symbols of pride, survival, and generational hope. Through layered compositions and carefully observed details, Oshun creates scenes that feel both deeply personal and historically collective

Pontiac native, Oshun Williams is a mixed-media artist based in Detroit. After joining the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club in 2022, Williams quickly gained recognition through a series of sold-out exhibitions — selling more than 200 works to date. His innovative approach to story telling and painting has sparked growing demand among collectors for emerging art. In 2024, he was awarded the Gucci Changemakers Siren Art Wall and commissioned work for the University of Michigan's permanent collection. Beyond his own practice, Williams remains deeply engaged in his community—collaborating, collecting, and curating the work of fellow artists.
