OSHUN WILLIAMS

Jimmy’s Blueprint

UPCOMING SOLO EXHIBITION

Opening Reception:
Friday, June 19th | 6 - 9 PM

Pontiac native, Oshun Williams is a mixed-media artist based in Detroit. After joining the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club in 2022, Williams quickly gained recognition through a series of sold-out exhibitions — selling more than 200 works to date. His innovative approach to story telling and painting has sparked growing demand among collectors for emerging art. In 2024, he was awarded the Gucci Changemakers Siren Art Wall and commissioned work for the University of Michigan’s permanent collection. Beyond his own practice, Williams remains deeply engaged in his community—collaborating, collecting, and curating the work of fellow artists.

Oshun Williams draws deep inspiration from Detroit’s vibrant community of local artists. Engaging with spaces like the Wright Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum has pushed him to refine his craft and connect with broader audiences. For Williams, art is both a healing practice and a bridge between his roles as an artist and a father. Separated from his daughters, he channels his emotions into each piece, using his work to close the distance between them. Every piece is created with the intent to remind his daughters of their strength and beauty as young Black women. Williams incorporates upcycled materials such as buttons, bows, and chenille patches to represent the moments they’ve missed together; while floral motifs encourage conversations around love, resilience, and community. The use of repurposed newspapers reflects his ongoing pursuit of knowledge and mirrors the layered complexities of contemporary life. Williams aims to leave behind a visual legacy that uplifts, heals, and inspires future generations.
